Overview
Treasurer Cowell recognizes that restoring public confidence in financial markets, banks and government is necessary in the successful execution of the office. Access to government meetings and documents is enshrined in the state’s constitution and is one of the pillars of a strong democracy.

Objectives

• Institute and comply with transparent and ethical practices across the department
• Increase accountability through performance measurement/management
• Reduce risk of fraud and abuse in all Treasury activities, both internal to department and external
• Strengthen board oversight of Department of State Treasurer programs
• Increase incorporation of ethics best practices for associated boards, governments, and vendors
